- Aimed from a mount that turns on its own: the unit fires in any direction without turning its hull, and can keep firing on the move. A fixed gun has to face its target first. The round steers after its target in flight and lands on it however it moves. An unguided round is fired at where the target is heading, and can miss.

The Viper fires guided anti-tank missiles from well outside cannon range. Its shaped charges deal ×1.8 damage against heavy armor; against anything light it is a poor deal.
How to use
Keep Vipers a few tiles behind your Bisons and let the enemy's Battle Tanks and Mammoths drive into missile range. Focus fire on the biggest target. Its armor is thin and its reload is long, so if buggies or light tanks reach it, pull it back behind the line. A handful of Vipers on hold position at a choke also makes a fine anti-armor picket.
Anecdotes
The American M901 carried its missiles on a mast that rose above the hull, so the vehicle could stay behind the ridge and only the launcher looked over. Crews called it the Hammerhead.
