The Veil blocks enemy radar, Scout Drone and Hornet camera feeds, and Advanced Headquarters surveillance within an 8-tile radius. Its field protects positions inside the circle; it does not cut off a sensor's view of the rest of the map. Allied observation keeps working, and overlapping Veils provide coverage without a stronger effect.
An Engineer or Engineer Boat can construct it once a Radar Station stands. It costs 600 metal, takes 35 seconds, occupies 2×2 tiles, has 900 HP, and consumes 20 power. It is available to every doctrine. It starts transmitting automatically when complete and fully powered. A power shortage, EMP or destruction stops the field. Jamming has no effect with fog of war disabled.
How to use
Place the Veil around artillery, production buildings or a staging area that enemy remote reconnaissance would otherwise expose. Its selection and placement circles show the radius. Keep spare generation available: partial power shuts the field down instead of shrinking it.
The transmissions reveal a faint, blurred red silhouette through fog, including unexplored ground. In normal vision, a red diamond above the station marks its transmission. The silhouette reveals neither the station's health nor the forces nearby, and cannot be selected as a unit. An opponent can force-fire at the location.
Counters
Direct observation still reveals covered ground: send a Scout Car, a crewed aircraft, a ship or other visual observer. Radar crews retain local optical sight, subject to terrain, weather and darkness. Radar's stealth detection does not penetrate the field; proximity spotting still does. Sonar continues to reveal submerged targets.
The Veil does not stop movement, incoming rounds or weapons. A Hornet can still attack a target spotted by another unit. EMP, damage to the power grid, and attacks on the transmitting location can open the field for reconnaissance again. Veteran AI also needs direct observation inside hostile jamming.
