The Thunderbolt Strike Jet makes rocket strafing runs against vehicles and light targets. Its four-rocket burst with splash is excellent against light and medium armor but weaker against heavy armor and buildings: its rocket multipliers are ×1.4 against light and medium armor, ×0.9 against heavy and ×0.7 against structures.

How to use

Use it to answer an enemy tank column that is out of your army's reach: dive, fire, climb away, repeat. It is far more cost-effective than a Cobra against light and medium vehicles, but weaker against heavy tanks. Rockets are short-ranged, so the jet must overfly its target, which means flying through any flak escorting it. It carries six salvos and flies home to an Airbase or an available Aircraft Carrier for more when they are spent. In rain or snow its rockets scatter wider, so strike in clear weather when you can.

Anecdotes

The A-10 Thunderbolt II was not designed and then armed. The gun came first, seven barrels about the length of a car, and the aircraft was built around it, which is why its nose wheel is offset to one side.
