- The shell is lobbed over whatever stands between the gun and its mark and comes down on the spot it was aimed at: it punishes what stands still and misses what has moved.

The Thunder Howitzer lobs high-explosive shells over a very long range, with heavy splash and a minimum range it cannot fire inside. Its job is to crack fortified positions from beyond retaliation.
How to use
Park a few howitzers just outside turret range with a scout or radar giving vision, and watch a defensive line evaporate. Spread shots also punish clumped armies. It is slow, fragile and blind at close range, so screen it with tanks and never let it lead. Pull it back the moment enemy armor breaks through.
Anecdotes
“Artillery is the god of war” is Stalin's line, and the Red Army meant it literally: by 1945 an offensive opened with hours of shellfire before anything with a driver in it moved.
